Last year Party People at Oppikoppi was crazy nice and resulted in Imago Entertainment and Oppikoppi’s decision to go back
to the bush in Northam and pull off yet another amazing Party People this year. With August being woman’s month, Dj Kenzhero feels it necessary to celebrate the strong gracious women within our music industry. With each feature bringing forth their own style and genre to the Sipho Gumede platform, this one is a star-studded, jam-packed line-up. Features by the likes of show stopper :
- Thandiswa Mazwai,
- The jazzy sounds of Khethi,
- Nthabi performing some of her new music,
- Ipi Fuze feat Siya Makuzeni on vocals and trombone,
- Ej Von Lyrik of Godessa with her Funk band all the way from Cape Town,
- Dj Hanna,
- Dj Goldigger and many more.

The Sipho Gumede stage will be the longest running stage within the festival, starting from 9:00am and ending at an ungodly 4:00am every day on Friday 7th, Sat 8th and Sunday 9th August.

Party People will be taking place on the 9th of August 2009 so do come and join us.

Tickets for this and the entire Oppikoppi experience can be purchased at www.tunegum.com for R400 or R450 at the gate. Dates for Oppikoppi are 7, 8, 9 August 2009. Roka Closing

Hey Party People! I am sad to bring you unfortunate news of the closing of Roka, the place that has been Party People’s home for three years now. 44 Stanley Roka was the only place that gave Party People a platform to present these events that some of us have fond memories of.

I can still remember the first event on 01 July 2006, there must have been 80 people present or even less but damn we all had fun and people wanted more ... we had finally found a home and an event we can call our own ... this is when I was playing by the DJ booth in the dark" wait till the DVD comes out, we always had sound glitches, thank God those have been far from our problems these days ... if you were there at the first event "put your lighters up" and if you own the unofficial party people mix tape ... remember that one? maybe ill do a goodbye Roka one ...

There have been people who’ve helped me build these events and without them we wouldn't be here ... Hempza handled all the art work (I remember we were in a taxi with his entire pc trying to get to his place to retrieve one of the flyers) and he was the sound man too. Makgabe my man was Mr everything ... from driver to doorman etc. Before and after them there has been countless other people, they know who they are.

I remember when some of the hard core party people family started complaining when the event grew bigger.
Understandably so, there were " new members" joining in. The event had become like a world they only were privy to, I had to make them understand that there had to be growth...

The event grew from just a party, from hosting quality local acts to international acts. I took every event as if it was the last one, Took all the stress that came with every event from the organizers and Dj point of view ... I need to mention that its not as easy as it looks and there’s no getting used to it as the problems that arise every month are different" even after all of that I still have to pull off a long set...

Well there’s a compilation for you to hold on to the memories, the Party People Vol 1 compilation CD. Look out for Vol 2! Also look forward to the Party People DVD that will come soon...

The Masta Ace gig must have been the most memorable one ... but to me all events had their special moments ... ya I know ... didn't see it coming ... or remember when MXO didn’t show up on the night he was featured Yaaaa Ne!

Would like to thank everyone for the support, from my ordinary friends who come through every month without fail, the media support, venue owners, bouncers and the Roka staff who all work on these nights as if they are their own.

See you at a venue near you …
Nuff said my keypad is kinda wet now, plus I hate typing, rather be surfing through tracks...

Party People Zubz in Cape Town

Photobucket

This doesnt come as a surprise at all ... Zubz and i have steadily been working together on numerus shows naw ... he is actualy one of my favourite artist to work with, very professional, that goes along way hance we are here. as you noticed he i feat him at the last Jburg Patrty People wich we thought was the very last one at Roka ...well July is the very last Party People in JHB ...

He is no stranger to Partyb People at all ... he was there in 2007 on his own and he closed 2007 Dec with his compadre Tumi ( of the Volume ). I thought it would be a crime if i dont let him perform with his band since Roka was closing last month ... he did a short and sweet set and oh even did a Micheal Jackson tribute track after establishing he isnt a singer ... thought it was msical of him

This will be the first time Zubz taste the Party People in Cape Town ... and i will be spinnign for him on the night so it should be interesting ... Looking forward to this one

HHP Party People

this one took a while ... been owing a set to Jabba for minute ... i got a bit of a story to tell ... i remember the one Party People last year when i had my man MXO doing the two cities with me ... for the friday night in Cape Town ... there were stories that Jabba would be in town performing at a corporate the next day and my man Mx told me Jabba is going to show up ... i was like oK! ... FFW ... on the night we anticipated Jabba and i decided to give him a call myself to be assured of this and he Rogered! well towards the main act set i call him up and he tells me he got the whole band with him ... long story short he ripped it apart setting up on the spot to the sound man's dismay and of of the story ... Jabba killed it so the show this weekend has been a debt i owe the man ...
